Birute Park
A pleasant holiday in Palanga would be unthinkable not only without the sea, but also without a walk through one of the most beautiful parks in Northern Europe – Birutė Park. Known as the pearl of Palanga, this area of the resort is beautified every year to make it even more attractive for holidaymakers.
Birutė Park is located on the territory of the former sacred Birutė Forest and Birutė Hill. The park was designed by the famous French architect Eduard Francois André for Count Tiškevičius at the end of the 19th century.
The talented park is characterised by a great variety of views and moods, with skilfully laid out paths and flower beds in the squares. The former Tiškevičius estate was once a marshland covered with pine trees. Ponds were dug for the counts, and the soil was used for the future manor house. In 1897, a neo-Renaissance palace was built, which now houses the famous Amber Museum.
Birutė Park is a great place for a quiet and pleasant family holiday and is a popular place for parents with their children, young and old, and visitors to Palanga.
Traditionally, three times a week – every summer on Thursday, Friday and Saturday – at 6.30 p.m., brass music lovers gather in the park’s rotunda – the professional Palanga Orchestra presents free concerts in the natural surroundings to the residents of Palanga and guests.
