Būtingė Geomorphological Reserve

A geomorphological reserve is an area where typical and unique complexes of landforms are protected. In geomorphological reserves it is forbidden to destroy and change the relief, to drain the land, to change the natural boundaries of watercourses, to cut down forest on hilltops, to build structures, to plant forest on agricultural land, in forest fields and in squares, if this would create a distinctive relief. Changes to buildings, roads, pipelines, electricity and communication lines are subject to authorisation. In 2019, Lithuania had 38 state geomorphological reserves with a total area of 21,879 hectares.
