House of composer Eduardas Balsys
Eduardas Balsys (1919–1984) was a composer, teacher (musician), and professor (1969–1984).
He moved to Palanga with his parents in 1939 and later returned there every summer. He composed the ballet Eglė – žalčių karalienė (Eglė, Queen of the Grass Snakes, 1960) and the poem for string orchestra Jūros atspindžiai (Reflections of the Sea, 1981). The house at 4 J. Šliūpo Street, where the composer lived, is marked with a memorial bas-relief (sculptor R. Midvikis, 1989).
